The boys and I were incredibly lucky to be in Birmingham on March 17. Not because we like to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the Magic City, but because it was Big Dad's birthday, and that's where he lives.
Big Dad is Rev. James Horton, Tim's maternal grandfather, and he has lived in Birmingham for 10+ years now. A former pastor and college professor (he taught religion at Carson-Newman College), Big Dad inspires us with his optimistic personality, quick wit, and incredible memory. We had a wonderful birthday visit with him, and I am thankful for these precious photographs of him and his bright smile.
